Chapter I General Provisions

Article 1 These Measures are formulated in accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of Medical Wastes in order to regulate the management of medical waste by medical and health institutions and effectively prevent and control the harm of medical waste to human health and the environment.

Article 2 Medical and health institutions at all levels and of all types shall manage medical wastes in accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of Medical Wastes and the provisions of these Measures.

Third the Ministry of health carries out supervision over the management of medical waste in the national medical and health institutions.

The administrative departments of public health under the local people's governments at or above the county level shall exercise supervision over the management of medical waste in medical and health institutions of their respective administrative regions
